Ingredients
2kgapples red, yellow, or any variety
100gramdates
30gbutter
2tspvanilla sugar
Instructions
Wash and chop the apples and dates into small pieces.
Layer the apples and dates in a large pot. Add the butter and vanilla sugar on top.
Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for about 1 hour. Stir occasionally, while it cooks.
After about 1 hour, reduce the heat and continue cooking until the jam has the consistency you like. I usually let mine cook for about another hour.
Let the jam cool slightly, then transfer into clean jars. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 weeks.
Notes
Use any apples you have – I often mix different varieties. For a sweeter jam, add a little Sukrin Gold, brown sugar, or any sweetner you prefer. For extra flavor, try adding cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg, or a mix of them.
