Homemade Apple Jam with Dates ππ
I love trying new, healthy things and finding ways to use the ingredients I already have at home. I almost always have apples and dates in my kitchen, so one day I decided to try making homemade apple jam with dates.
It turned out so good, and now it is one of those things I love having in the fridge – perfect with yogurt, cottage cheese, oatmeal, on toast, or simply straight from the jar. π
Ingredientsπ
- 2 kg apples (red, yellow, or whatever you have)
- 100 g dates
- 30 g butter
- 2 tsp vanilla sugar
How to Make It
Step 1 β Chop the apples and dates
Wash and chop the apples and dates into small pieces. You can peel the apples if you like, but you do not have to
Step 2 β Layer the apples and dates
Layer the apples and dates in a large pot. Add the butter and vanilla sugar on top.
Step 3 β Let it cock
Put the lid on and cook over medium heat for about one hour, stirring occasionally. Then reduce the heat and let it cook for another hour, stirring from time to time.
You can stop after about an hour if you prefer, but I like to give it a little more time. The longer it cooks, the softer and thicker it becomes.
Tips
- If you prefer a sweeter jam, you can add a little Sukrin Gold, brown sugar, or another sweetener you like.
- You can also add cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg, or a combination of them if you want a little extra flavor.
Storage
Store the jam in a clean, airtight jar in the refrigerator. It usually keeps well for about 2-3 weeks. Always use a clean spoon when serving.
